This is a short recipe, although it takes a long time to be ready since it has to sit for weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">In<br>\nfact, it will take an even longer time to be ready NOW because National Rhubarb<br>\nDay falls in January, when there is no rhubarb available \u2026 unless you want to<br>\nimport frozen rhubarb, which I have done! (Somehow or other the rhubarb I<br>\nfreeze at home doesn\u2019t seem to last through the winter.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">My source is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frankfarms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Frank Farms (opens in a new tab)\">Frank Farms<\/a> in Michigan. The rhubarb costs as much to ship as it does to buy, alas, but it\u2019s good rhubarb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Of<br>\ncourse, you may certainly wait until rhubarb season to make this simple<br>\ncordial. It\u2019s great in goopy desserts like a trifle. Or you may drink it as an<br>\nafter-dinner liqueur, what my Francophone mother used to call a \u201cdigestif.\u201d I<br>\ncan\u2019t guarantee that it will aid your digestion, but rhubarb is known for its<br>\nmedicinal properties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">When<br>\nI become famous enough, I will work on moving National Rhubarb Day to a more<br>\nappropriate time of year. Meanwhile, I assure you that the rhubarb roots are<br>\nstill there beneath the snow, waiting to be celebrated\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>Rhubarb Cordial<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">2 cups rhubarb<br>1 cup sugar<br>vodka as needed<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>Instructions:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Place the rhubarb in a 1-quart Mason jar.&nbsp; Pour the sugar in over it and stir well; then fill the jar with vodka, cover it, and place it in a cool, dark place.
