I concluded with a chocolate fudge recipe.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Fudge isn\u2019t always chocolate, however. I like to make a number of flavors&#8211;penuche (a brown-sugar confection), peanut butter, divinity \u2026 and this coffee fudge. It\u2019s definitely more sophisticated than its chocolate country cousin.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">I like to make it with\u00a0a strong coffee\u00a0such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medagliadoro.com\/products.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medaglia D&#8217;Oro Caff\u00e9 Espresso<\/a>. You may of course use any brand or flavor of instant coffee you like, including (gasp!) hazelnut coffee or some odd substance like that. I heard the <span data-sheets-value=\"{&quot;1&quot;:2,&quot;2&quot;:&quot;2 pound whole bean colombian coffee beans&quot;}\" data-sheets-userformat=\"{&quot;2&quot;:4226,&quot;4&quot;:[null,2,12040119],&quot;10&quot;:2,&quot;15&quot;:&quot;Arial&quot;}\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sfbaycoffee.com\/products\/sfb-colombian-supremo-coffee-2-lb-bag?pr_prod_strat=description&amp;pr_rec_pid=4442822410326&amp;pr_ref_pid=4442825588822&amp;pr_seq=uniform\">2 pound whole bean colombian coffee beans<\/a> taste a little sweet so they would be perfect for this recipe.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">The end product tastes like a particularly rich coffee milk shake.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">I sent some as a gift to my friend Diana.\u00a0She reports that her husband Sam inserted a piece of the fudge and a pat of butter into half an acorn squash before cooking it one evening, \u201cand the result was delicious.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Obviously, I have come up with\u00a0a versatile confection!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong>The Fudge<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">2 tablespoons instant coffee<br \/>\n3 cups sugar<br \/>\na pinch of salt<br \/>\n1\/2 cup cream<br \/>\n2 tablespoons light corn syrup<br \/>\n1 cup milk<br \/>\n1 to 2 tablespoons butter<br \/>\n1 teaspoon vanilla<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>Instructions:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Combine the coffee, sugar, and salt in a heavy, medium-sized saucepan, and stir in the cream, corn syrup, and milk. Place the pan over low to medium heat. You can also run it through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parksmaintenance.com\/hot-beverages-equipment\">coffee maker<\/a> before putting it into the pan.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Stir the mixture constantly until it comes to a boil; then cover it for a minute or two to wash down the sides of the pan. Uncover the mixture, and cook it, without stirring, until it reaches the soft-ball stage (234 degrees). Remove from heat.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Add the butter and the vanilla, and let the mixture cool for a few minutes without stirring it (don&#8217;t let it get cooler than lukewarm; optimally, it should be a bit warmer than that).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Beat the warm fudge until it becomes creamy and thickens slightly&#8211;in other words until it begins to seem fudgy. Quickly pour it into a greased 8-by-8-inch pan, and let it cool.
