If you\u2019re not a fan of tart foods, you may skip the cranberries and just make key-lime bars. The cranberries lend lovely holiday color and flavor, however.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">One could also counteract the tartness by adding a tad more sugar. I like my bars tart, however. And I did put LOTS of confectioner\u2019s sugar on top of the bars; they looked a bit like the ground after a dusting of snow.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0 (The cranberries represent our hardy New England rocks!)<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Until December\u2026\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tinkyweisblat.com\/_ourgrandmotherskitchens\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/likesnowweb1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8887\" title=\"likesnowweb\" src=\"http:\/\/tinkyweisblat.com\/_ourgrandmotherskitchens\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/likesnowweb1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ourgrandmotherskitchens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/likesnowweb1.jpg 360w, https:\/\/ourgrandmotherskitchens.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/likesnowweb1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/tinkyweisblat.com\/_ourgrandmotherskitchens\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Cranberry-Key-Lime-Squares.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">The Squares<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>for the crust:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">1 cup flour<br \/>\n6 tablespoons confectioner\u2019s sugar<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon sat<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">1\/2 cup (1 stick) butter<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>for the middle:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">1\/2 to 2\/3 cup cranberries<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>for the filling and top:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">2 eggs<br \/>\n2\/3 cup sugar<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n6 tablespoons key-lime juice<br \/>\n2 tablespoons milk<br \/>\n2 tablespoons flour<br \/>\nconfectioner\u2019s sugar as needed for dusting<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><em>Instructions:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Butter an 8-inch-square pan.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">First, prepare the butter crust. In a small bowl combine the flour, confectioner\u2019s sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Press this mixture (it will be crumbly!) into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool for 5 minutes. Press the cranberries into the crust (they may or may not press down effectively; if they float up, they will be just fine!).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Move on to the key-lime filling. In a bowl whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and key-lime juice until they are thoroughly combined. Whisk in the milk, followed by the flour.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: &amp;amp;amp;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Pour the filling over the crust and cranberries, and return the pan to the oven. Bake until the filling sets and the edges are just a little brown.
